Student answer (Band 6.5)

Over the period of time, there has been increase in the number of choices for customers ranging from commodities produced in home country to commodities available from other countries. Nonetheless, the people are more inclined towards purchase of their own country goods. From my point of view, it is impressively positive trend due to several factors discussed in upcoming paragraphs.

A rise in the sale of own country's good contributes to the Gross Domestic Product of the same country. Further, it places a competitive edge in the international market and cut down unnecessary cost being paid by government importing goods such as import duty, travelling cost and insurance cost of imported goods. Furthermore, it generates revenue within the country in the form of profit to producer, seller and ultimately to government in the form of taxes collected on the sale of goods. Clearly, money inflows in government treasure results in productive investments and developments whether in the form of social and infrastructural.

Discussing the benefit from the scratch, it results in upward trend in employment rate. With the vision of choosing local produced goods, the consumers are rising their production demand. As the demand of goods is increasing, the producers has to expand their production level which demands employing additional labor. In this way, the additional employment opportunities are rising which tuns in favor of labor market as well. Specifically, in terms of their economic approvement as well as rising their basic pay in market because in this circumstance they are in demand.

Overall, preferring own country's good in comparison to other country's good proves to be rewarding for each and every involving sector whether labor, producers, sellers and government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for choosing local goods and the evaluation of the trend. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. While you mention GDP and employment, the explanation of these points could be more nuanced. For instance, the link between local production and 'competitive edge' in the international market is not fully explained and feels slightly contradictory to the focus on local consumption. To reach a higher band, ensure that each reason is supported by a concrete example or a more detailed logical explanation rather than just listing economic benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Nonetheless', 'Further', and 'Furthermore' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Discussing the benefit from the scratch'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, 'the same country' is a bit clunky. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different reasons, which helps the reader follow the argument. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'commodities', 'Gross Domestic Product', and 'infrastructural'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'money inflows in government treasure' (should be 'treasury') and 'economic approvement' (should be 'improvement'). Some phrasing is also slightly unnatural, such as 'rising their production demand'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that less common vocabulary is used accurately in context rather than just attempting to use academic-sounding words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'there has been increase' (missing article), 'own country's good' (should be plural 'goods'), and 'producers has to' (subject-verb agreement error). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. To achieve a higher band, focus on consistent subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed without errors.
