Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and the essay falls just short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task achievement. While the reasons provided (media awareness and cultural connection) are relevant, they lack depth and specific supporting evidence. The position is clear, but the arguments could be more thoroughly extended to meet the requirements for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, 'After discussion of reasoning, It is quite sure that it approach has positive results' is a clunky way to transition between paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes repetitive or used incorrectly, such as 'As a results'. The paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'welling to' instead of 'willing to', 'mess media' instead of 'mass media', and 'spaical festivals' instead of 'special festivals'. The range is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but the frequent spelling errors and limited use of sophisticated vocabulary prevent a higher score. More precise terminology would improve the clarity and impact of the arguments.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('individual make choice'), article usage ('the food', 'the plastic'), and sentence construction ('there are plenty of videos on youtube that describing about'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
