Student answer (Band 6.0)
The process of producing goods has been changed significantly in recent years because of modernization. It is often noticed that some individuals prefer to buy local commodities because of culture value and quality over the imported essentials which is surely a positive development for economic growth and preserving the culture.
The most evident reason behind this practice is to stay with social norms. To expand more this, It is often seen that people especially youngsters chose to buy those essentials which reflects the core value of cultures either it can be food or clothing preferences. For example, the increasing population still buy local food in the local markets rather than imported edibles because their mindset are totally devoted with their cultural food. On top of that, their purchasing habits helps to improve the economy growth and results in betterment of country and their residents.
Moreover, the another reason can be high quality which they are unable to find in the imported products. For instance, ordinary people are more conscious about product quality and they consider that local stores can provide all essentials with great quality and most importantly, they can look for the item carefully before purchasing. Thus, this way has a better results than relying on foreign goods.
To conclude, I firmly admire this decision as this practice provides good outcomes not only for improving economic but also for local residents. Therefore, people focus on native items which gives a sense of satisfaction than imported goods.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for buying local and expressing a clear positive stance. However, the essay falls slightly short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While the reasons provided—cultural values and product quality—are relevant, they are somewhat under-developed. For instance, the argument regarding economic growth is mentioned but not sufficiently explained or supported with concrete evidence. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed examples and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'To conclude'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the phrase 'To expand more this' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the logical progression. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'youngsters' and 'cultural food' could be more explicitly linked to the broader trend. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your main ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'commodities', 'essentials', and 'purchasing habits'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'culture value' instead of 'cultural value' and 'economic growth' being referred to as 'improving economic'. There is also some repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and synonyms to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control and avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the quality of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('their mindset are totally devoted'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing ('the another reason can be high quality'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. To achieve a higher score, focus on correcting these recurring errors and aim for more error-free complex sentences, ensuring that your grammar supports rather than hinders the clarity of your arguments.
