Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today’s world, as inflation is rising with fast pace , most of the people are switching to buy their goods which are manufactured in their local area instead of those imported goods. This also has given boost to the domestic market. Through this essay, both the optimistic and pessimistic consequences of this trend will be discussed.
To begin with, one of the most important reason of switching to local markets is inflation . In recent days, large countries like USA, Japan which are one the most biggest importer of India have imposed different types of taxes and tariffs on their imported goods . According to recent survey, USA has imposed 7% tariffs on basic items which are necessary for daily survival. This has increased their prices to a large extent which makes it quite difficult for middle class society to afford. However, young generation also wants to replace imported foreign items with domestic market to strengthen their regional economy which can boost our GDP to some extent.
Furthermore, as every coins has two sides, it also leads to both positive and pessimistic consequences. This trend has helped a large number of local vendors as well as small businessman to grow their business which has uplifted our country to some extent. In addition, it has also motivated Gen-z to start their own small business which makes them more ambitious. However, on the other hand, the lower usage of imported goods has affected our foreign relations with different countries to large extent . To epitomize, in receny interview of our president Dropdi Munmun , she discussed that Japan is warning us to cancel their recent deal as the purchase of imported goods has declined drastically.
To conclude, it is every important for people to understand that switching to regional markets will encourage many small shopkeepers or vendors to strengthen their business but it will also affect our foreign relations .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and an evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation regarding inflation and tariffs is a bit confusing, as it conflates the reasons for buying local with the reasons for the decline of imports. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments, such as the mention of the President and specific trade deals, lack sufficient depth and clarity to fully convince the reader. To improve, ensure that each reason is clearly linked to the main argument and supported by more logical, well-explained examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or forced, such as 'as every coins has two sides'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, the connection between the paragraph about inflation and the subsequent paragraph about positive/negative consequences could be smoother. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, but the use of cohesive devices could be more natural and varied to achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'optimistic', 'pessimistic', and 'epitomize', though 'epitomize' is used incorrectly in this context. Some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'fast pace' instead of 'a fast pace' and 'most biggest' which is grammatically incorrect. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, there are recurring errors in collocation and word choice that prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on precise word usage and collocations will help improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'one of the most important reason' (should be 'reasons'), 'one the most biggest' (should be 'one of the biggest'), and 'every coins' (should be 'every coin'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Increasing the variety of error-free complex structures and proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
