Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this contemporary world, imported goods are major means to globalization. Nowadays, people tend to not buy the imported good and prefer local area produce as their priority. I agree to that because to conserve their regional culture and for the safety purpose.

In light of this, the debate argues that the consumers are influence towards buying their local produce rather than international. However, this is the best way to contribute for own countries economy and increase GDP growth. This practise helps to easily rely on the good which assure to be available when needed.

Despite this, International goods could be great but not trusted in terms of quality and price. Whereas, local goods can be more affordable and qualitative. For instance, Avocadoes are the highest priced transported vegetarian goods in worldwide which are expensive but not reliable as they can get perishable easily.

Ultimately, people buying more local food than imported is positive trend as per my perspective. Moreover, Local food are affordable and reliable. Conversely, Imported goods consumption can also become beneficial in terms to explore the cuisine or experiment in culnary business in the country itself. However, at the ground base international produce can be more expensive to the common people due to tariffs.

In conclusion, local people are increasingly buying their produce due more advantages they receive and deny the the outside country goods. hence, purchasing local yield foods support the regional well being in favor to protect farmers market and from the supply chain disruption.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the mention of 'regional culture' in the introduction is not expanded upon in the body paragraphs. The arguments regarding economic growth and reliability are relevant but lack depth and specific supporting evidence. The position is clear, but the explanation of why it is a 'positive' trend is repetitive and lacks a nuanced perspective. To improve, ensure each reason is supported by a clear explanation or a more detailed example.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression between sentences is often weak. Transitions like 'In light of this' and 'Despite this' are used, but they do not always connect the ideas logically to the preceding text. Some sentences feel disjointed, such as the transition from the economic argument to the quality of goods. Additionally, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, which occasionally hinders the flow of the argument. Better use of linking words would improve the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'highest priced transported vegetarian goods' and 'qualitative' (which is often misused here for 'high quality'). Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'culnary' (spelling error) and 'ground base'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the student relies on repetitive structures. Expanding the range of topic-specific collocations would significantly improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Local food are'), article usage (e.g., 'the the outside'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'people buying more local food than imported is positive trend'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article consistency would be beneficial.
