Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays a significant number of people are choosing to buy goods that are produced in their local area because it improves the employment rates of the region. Also it provides a better shopping experience in terms of return and exchange policy. I believe this is a positive trend.
One of the major reasons why people choose to buy things from their local manufacturers is that it enhances the employment rates in the area. Also it gives a better shopping experience to the buyer as they can easily return or exchange the damaged good. This is because when an individual buys a good from their local shops, they encourage other people to start their own careers. Moreover, local vendors ensures their customers to return or exchange their damaged goods without paying courier charges. For example, if a person gets a defected item, they do not have to send it to far distance to exchange. However, it can be easily replaced on the spot. As a result, it maintains a healthy bond between a shopkeeper and a customer.
I personally believe that it is a positive trend because it improves the shopping experience of a customer without any hindrance. This is because it allows a consumer hassle free shopping with a better quality products. For instance, if a buyer wants to buy a mattress, they can check the quality by approaching the shop in person. As a result, it allows a customer to check every parameter of the goods before buying to have a better product.
To conclude, more people are choosing to buy their goods from their local vendors. This provides a better experience for a buyer and a seller in terms of quality, pricing, return or exchange.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. You mention 'return and exchange' policies in both the introduction and the body paragraphs, which limits the depth of your argument. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the economic or environmental benefits of local shopping rather than focusing primarily on the convenience of returns. While your position is clear, the supporting ideas are somewhat narrow and lack the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'For example', and 'To conclude' to link your thoughts. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the repetition of phrases like 'This is because' makes the flow feel a bit simplistic. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-developed point rather than restating previous ideas in different words.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'things', and 'better'. There are also some minor collocation issues, such as 'defected item' (should be 'defective item') and 'without any hindrance'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to economics or consumer behavior, such as 'sustainability', 'local economy', or 'convenience'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'local vendors ensures' (subject-verb agreement) and 'a better quality products' (article usage). Additionally, some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'it allows a consumer hassle free shopping'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve your accuracy.
