Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as the freshness of local produce and the convenience of local shops. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the negative aspects is brief and could have been expanded with more depth. The position is clear, but the explanation of why it is a 'positive' trend is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by more detailed reasoning or specific examples beyond the brief mention of North American electronics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'However,' which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some of the transitions are a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'there are some limitations behind this market.' The referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall flow of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary like 'imported products' and 'local economy.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'for the replacement of' instead of 'as an alternative to' and 'things' used repeatedly where more specific nouns would be better. The errors in word choice do not impede communication, but they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people wants'), article usage ('the local market sell these things'), and prepositional phrases ('contribute for this trend'). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. While the student attempts complex sentences, these often contain errors that slightly distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles and prepositions.
