Student answer (Band 6.5)
A certain amount of people belonging to the same locality are opting to purchase goods that are made in the area, instead of selecting imported ones these days. I strongly believe that it is a positive impact. This not only promotes local production, but also supports a lot of families that make a living out of it.
One the main reasons for deciding to shop within the same geography is that, it boosts manufacturing. Nowadays, importing from other countries is gradually becoming expensive. Instead of trusting another place, individuals have started relying on local produce and market chains. For instance, whenever I go to the supermarket, I always glance at the prices of grocery items. Anything that is affordable and has an identification mark which reads "produced in the society" will be my top choice, as I am aware that the quality is better.
Secondly, People have started to realize that so many households in their vicinity work extremely hard to bring out the best to the markets. In fact, it provides them a roof over their heads by being the main and only of income. Encouraging shops from their local terrain also introduces a feeling of togetherness, love and trust within the locals. For example, I get my bathing supplies from a local vendor and he always expresses how much it helps him to financially support his daughters.
Why do we need to look somewhere else when everything we need is grown and sold in our place? If this keeps becoming a trend, it does not just vouch for the well-being of the particular area alone but, also the entire nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for choosing local goods and the opinion on whether this is a positive trend. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the points about economic benefits and community support are relevant, they are explained in a relatively simple manner. The example regarding the local vendor is personal and effective, but the essay would benefit from more sophisticated analysis of the broader economic or environmental implications to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of argument is moderate.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One the main reasons', 'Secondly', and 'In fact', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as the opening of the second paragraph ('One the main reasons'). Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother in places. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the reasons from the conclusion. The structure is sufficient to ensure the message is easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'local terrain' and 'market chains', though 'local terrain' is slightly misused in this context. Some phrasing is repetitive or slightly unnatural, such as 'produced in the society'. While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band. There are no significant spelling errors, and the vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the topic of local versus imported goods.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'A certain amount of people' (should be 'number of'), 'One the main reasons' (missing 'of'), and 'main and only of income' (missing 'source'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some unnecessary commas, such as after 'geography is that, it'. Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, even if they are not always perfectly accurate. The control of grammar is consistent enough to support clear communication.
