Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. You clearly identify environmental benefits, economic growth, and the impact of the pandemic as reasons. Your position is clear, stating that it is a positive trend while acknowledging some drawbacks like cost and limited variety. However, some ideas are under-developed; for instance, the mention of 'culture pride' and 'transparency' is brief and could benefit from more specific examples. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with a clear explanation or example to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Compounding this' and 'On the balance', to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'In this contemporarily era' or 'from this you will get the and its very very important'. The flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed at times. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help the essay read more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'carbon footprints', 'supply chain', and 'transparency'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'contemporarily era' (contemporary era), 'the locally produced goods is significantly increased to but by the users' (the purchase of locally produced goods has increased), and 'the verity of good' (variety of goods). These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the locally produced goods is'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence construction ('the lower carbon footprints will reduce by the lower transportation'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence structure, tense consistency, and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score.
