Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 82 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you have identified a position and started to outline reasons, the ideas are severely underdeveloped and the response ends abruptly mid-sentence ('a jean factory for'). To reach a higher band, you must provide a full, structured essay that covers all parts of the prompt—reasons for the trend and your opinion on whether it is positive or negative—with sufficient supporting detail and examples to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is too short to demonstrate a clear logical progression or effective paragraphing. While you use basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'In recent years', the text lacks the structure necessary to develop an argument. The abrupt ending makes it impossible to assess your ability to manage cohesion across a full essay. To improve, focus on planning your response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct points, and a conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is functional but basic. Phrases like 'demand for local goods' and 'economic growth' are accurate but limited in range. There are minor errors, such as 'in my countries' (should be 'in my country'). Because the text is so brief, there is no opportunity to demonstrate the use of less common or idiomatic vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to economics and consumer behavior, such as 'domestic production' or 'sustainable consumption'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is generally accurate in the sentences provided, but the range of structures is very limited. You rely on simple sentence constructions. The incomplete sentence at the end prevents a full assessment of your control over complex structures. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider variety of sentence types, including complex and compound sentences, and ensure that your writing is complete and grammatically sound throughout the entire response.
