Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some buyers are increasingly buying the products produced in local areas because it is fresh and available near them. Which is good for their health and increase the employment rate. Instead of imported ones.

On the one hand, the main reason is the freshness of the products. Beacause, all the products are freshly made and without preservatives. Due to this, their taste is different from imported goods. For example, village people prefer to buy things that are produced by them at home. Secondly, most of the imported products are available in cities instead of local areas. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 153 words. This failure to meet the length requirement severely limits the development of ideas. While you identify reasons for buying local (freshness, health) and state that it is a positive trend, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a full exploration of the prompt. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with detailed explanations and concrete examples, and ensure you provide a clear introduction and conclusion to address all parts of the task fully.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Firstly', and 'Secondly' to organize ideas. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the structure is fragmented. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'produced by them at home', where the antecedent is ambiguous. The lack of a proper conclusion and the abrupt ending significantly disrupt the flow of the argument. To improve, focus on linking sentences more fluidly and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by well-developed supporting points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'products', 'goods', and 'local'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'energzits' (energetic) and 'cpmapred' (compared). The range is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors restrict the score. To improve, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to economics, health, and consumer behavior, and proofread carefully to eliminate simple spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'increase the employment rate' should be 'increases') and sentence fragments (e.g., 'Which is good for their health...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences starting with 'Because' in a way that creates a fragment. The range of structures is very limited, and the errors are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practicing the use of complex sentences with subordinating conjunctions.
