Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an increment in the number of retailers who prefer buying local products than importing form some other countries. the reason might include cheaper prices, high quality and easy access which I believe is a positive trend.
To begin with, more and more consumers are buying local product these days. The main reason would be the price difference as the imported products are slightly expensive because of several taxations. Although the quality of imported goods is significantly higher than most of the products, the price would not be suitable for all the customers. consumers are paying more prices on the good that are being imported as it includes various taxes. Moreover, sometimes the process of importing could take more time than usual which results in delays in the orders and perishable goods.
On the other hand, the phenomenon of buying local products not only benefits the consumers but also the local individual who are selling their products. For example, If the consumers purchase fresh goods like vegetables and fruits from local farmers, it would not only be cheaper but also higher in the quality which would create more demand. As a result, people of all the age group would like to visit the store to get fresh products and it would be benefit the business on a high scale profits. Buying local products also encourage local community to grow rapidly and it could result in the development of the nation.
In conclusion, Although the imported items could provide good quality, the price difference could be the issue as it includes multiple taxes. However the local products are easily available with affordable price and are freshly produced which benefits both the consumers and the seller.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you mention price and quality, the argument regarding 'high quality' is contradictory, as you later state imported goods are higher quality. The explanation of why this is a positive trend is better developed, particularly regarding the economic benefits to local farmers and the community. To reach a higher band, ensure your arguments are consistent throughout the essay and provide more specific, nuanced examples to support your claims rather than relying on general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some linking words are used repetitively or slightly inaccurately. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel disconnected due to the limited variety of cohesive structures. Improving the use of referencing and varying your linking phrases would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. You use basic terms like 'cheaper prices', 'good quality', and 'fresh products' repeatedly. There are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'paying more prices on the good' instead of 'paying higher prices for goods' and 'benefit the business on a high scale profits'. To improve, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations related to economics and consumer behavior. Avoid repeating the same phrases and try to incorporate more precise terminology to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'importing form some other countries' (spelling), 'local individual who are selling' (subject-verb agreement), and 'people of all the age group' (article/pluralization). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing capital letters at the start of sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and proofreading for minor slips will help improve your accuracy.
