Student answer (Band 6.0)
A paradigm shift can be witnessed in the buying pattern of goods. However, some consumers prefer to buy that type of items which are manufactured in their domestic area rather than to buy from other nations. This exam will examine the factors of this and discuss why it is a poistive trend.
Commencing with the more prominent reason is that it is cost effective to buy local goods rather that imported one. To elaborate it, if an individual purchase from other nation, then there are various taxes and import duty included in the price of the goods that increase the overall cost of good. For example, in Nike store, there are some imported shoes that are much costly than the shoes what are made locally. Thus, the people will save a huge amount during the purchase of an item. Another reason worth considering is that easy availability of goods. Consumers consume less time while purchasing the local goods which are easy get from the local store. On the hand, imported goods take time to deliver by shipment from other nation. As a result, it will not only save the time of individual, but they will also purchase the goods according to their demands.
Despite the aforementioned factors of this trend, there are some reasons why it is a positive trend. Primarily, it helps in development of nation. With the purchase of local goods, the flow of money only moves in that nation, and the individual does not spend their money to buy the imported goods. Hence, it will enhance the flow of money in nation as well as it will increase the productivity of local goods. Moreover, the children attach with their culture by using their nation products. With this, the children will enhance their knowledge about their culture. For instance, in Punjab most of the individual wear's kurta pajama on the daily basis that is the identity of their nation. Thus, the new generation will knowledge as well as attach with their country.
In conclusion, cost effective and easy availability of goods are the major factor affecting this trend, I believe that it is a positive trend because of its advantages which are increasing the flow of money in nation and will give awareness about the culture among the youth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear position on its positive nature. The ideas are relevant, such as cost-effectiveness and cultural identity. However, some arguments are under-developed; for instance, the claim that local goods are always cheaper is a generalization that could be better nuanced. The explanation regarding the 'flow of money' is a good start but lacks depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully supported with more detailed reasoning or specific, logical examples rather than just stating the points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Commencing with', 'Despite the aforementioned factors', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'This exam will examine' (which is an unusual way to refer to an essay). Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences feels slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the reasons from the evaluation of the trend.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'paradigm shift' and 'prominent', which is positive. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the children attach with their culture' (should be 'connect to') and 'the new generation will knowledge' (incorrect verb usage). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the vocabulary lacks the precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Examples include 'buy that type of items', 'much costly than', 'easy get from', and 'individual wear's kurta'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is recommended.
