Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, most of the individuals are prefer to purchase goods that are manufactured in their area instead of foreign goods. I believe that this is a positive trend because of numerous reasons behind this statement. I will explains these reasons in the upcoming paragraph for better understandings.

To begin with, the rate of products and transport charges of foreign products are too high nowadays. Which is not suitable for all class of consumers in society to afford it. For instance, China have a great production units of different products such as electronic, fashion, auto mobiles and so on. When these products imported to another countries then the some kind of transport fee is charge in the form of tax by custom authority to give clearance to products that increase the price of product when it comes in the market.

Secondly, if the number of consumers prefer to buy local produced products then it is beneficial for them to aware how’s the goods are manufacture in the factories. In a democratic country everyone have rights so this will be good opportunity for public to know exactly the process of making the goods goes accurately or not.

Thirdly, the most positive things will arise like the number of factories increase as week as it provides huge employment opportunities to people. The cycle of local production, selling and consumption of goods make a country self made as well as increase its GDP growth.

To conclude, changing the trend of purchasing goods from imported products to local products shows a positive trend for the individual as well as overall country growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention transport costs and employment, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the point about 'democratic rights' to know how goods are manufactured is not clearly linked to the trend of buying local. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a clear, logical explanation followed by a concrete example that directly supports your main argument. Your position is clear throughout, which is a strength.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude' to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between transport costs and the example of China is abrupt. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of cohesive devices and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid and natural.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'rate of products' instead of 'price of products' and 'self made' instead of 'self-sufficient'. Additionally, there are some minor errors in word formation, such as 'manufacture' used instead of 'manufactured'. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more sophisticated vocabulary related to economics and trade, such as 'supply chain', 'economic stimulus', or 'consumer preference'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('most of the individuals are prefer'), article usage ('in the market'), and sentence fragments ('Which is not suitable...'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these recurring errors prevent the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly without relying on fragments.
