Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely believed that consumers in today's world are increasingly inclined towards goods that are produced locally, instead of imported ones. This essay will outline the reasons behind this shift, which are due to superior quality and economic factors, and assert that it is a positive development because it diminishes environmental concerns and boosts employment opportunities.
One of the primary reasons why consumers are drawn towards locally produced goods is that they provide superior quality of food. This is largely attributed to the fact that consumers believe that the food, which is produced locally, is free from excessive chemical fertilisers. That is to say deeply ingrained belief among individuals is that the food, which is produced in their local communities, is more environmentally sustainable. In simple words, consumers feel that they can acquire a sense of satisfaction, while taking informed decisions towards their healthy meals, by observing how their food is grown and produced. Moreover, many consumers argue that by purchasing local products, they can strengthen the local economy by motivating local farmers. As a result, by improving local economy could ultimately drive towards a better standard of living, while encouraging traditional agriculture practices. For example, in India, Delhi is popular for investing in their locally produced good and it has been reported nowadays the economic situation and health related problems are more stabilised compared with last years. This example demonstrates investing on locally produced good is beneficial foe both better lifestyle and healthy habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the reasons (quality and economic benefits) are clear, the discussion on whether it is a positive trend is somewhat brief and lacks a concluding summary. The example provided regarding Delhi is a bit vague and lacks specific evidence to fully support the argument. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'As a result' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'In simple words, consumers feel that they can acquire a sense of satisfaction'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transition between the reasons and the evaluation of the trend could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'environmentally sustainable', 'ingrained belief', and 'standard of living'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'investing on locally produced good' (should be 'investing in locally produced goods') and 'health related problems are more stabilised' (which is slightly unnatural). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, you should focus on more precise collocations and ensure that pluralisation is consistent to improve your lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'by improving local economy could ultimately drive' (incorrect subject-verb structure) and 'investing on locally produced good is beneficial foe' (spelling error 'foe' instead of 'for'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for minor errors in prepositions and articles.
