Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's globalised world, consumers are increasingly drawn towards preferring locally produced goods, rather than imported products. The prominent reasons behind this trends are superior quality and economic factors. This essay will outline a detailed reasons behind this force and explain why it is a positive development because it creates employment opportunities and promotes environmentally sustainable practices.
One of the primary reasons why consumers prefer goods produced locally is that because it provides superior quality of food. This is largely attributed to the fact is that food, which is produced locally, is free from extensive chemical fertilisers treatment. As a result, consumers believed locally grown foods tend to be more nutritious compared with genetically produced foods. In simple words, it means consumers are more conscious about their informed decisions related to healthy meals. Moreover, many individuals believed that investing on local products promotes economic balance, by encouraging local agriculture practices and motivating framers. For instance, in Delhi, many residents are significantly influenced to invest on local products, which not only improves their standard of livings by opting locally produced healthier options but also balanced their economic circumstances. Therefore, this example clearly demonstrates that it is beneficial to opt locally produced food for both consumers and organisations who are actively involved in local businesses.
This is a positive trend because it generates job opportunities and reduces carbon foot prints.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear position. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. The final paragraph is underdeveloped, consisting of only one sentence, which prevents a full exploration of the arguments. While the ideas are relevant, the lack of length means the response fails to meet the requirements of the task fully. To improve, you must expand your supporting points with more detailed explanations and examples to ensure you meet the word count and provide a more comprehensive analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'Therefore'. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive structures. The final paragraph is too brief to contribute effectively to the overall coherence of the piece. While the logical flow is generally understandable, the mechanical nature of the transitions and the lack of sufficient development between points mean that the cohesion is not always smooth or effective.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'globalised', 'nutritious', and 'environmentally sustainable'. However, there are several instances of awkward collocation and word choice errors, such as 'extensive chemical fertilisers treatment', 'investing on local products', and 'standard of livings'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and prepositions, such as 'consumers believed' (should be 'believe'), 'many individuals believed' (should be 'believe'), and 'investing on' (should be 'investing in'). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'the prominent reasons behind this trends'. While the meaning remains clear, these persistent errors prevent the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy.
