Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's globalised world, consumers are increasingly drawn towards preferring locally produced goods, rather than imported products. The prominent reasons behind this trend are superior quality and economic factors. This essay will outline the reasons behind this trend and explain why it is a positive development, as it creates employment opportunities and promotes environmentally sustainable practices.
One of the primary reasons why consumers prefer goods produced locally is that they provides superior quality of food. This is largely attributed to the fact that food, which is produced locally, is free from extensive chemical fertiliser treatment. As a result, consumers believe that locally grown foods tend to be more nutritious compared with genetically produced foods. In simple terms , it means consumers are more conscious about their informed decisions related to healthy meals. Moreover, many individuals assert that investing in local products promotes economic balance, by encouraging local agriculture practices and motivating framers. For instance, in Delhi, many residents are strongly encouraged to invest in local products, which not only improves their standard of living by opting for locally produced healthier options but also balanced their economic circumstances. Therefore, this example clearly demonstrates that it is beneficial for both consumers and organisations who are actively involved in local businesses.
This is a positive trend because it generates job opportunities and reduces carbon footprints. When consumers invest in locally produced goods contribute to economic growth, as it creates employment opportunities in various related sectors, such as marketing, agriculture, and trading. Consequently, this massive growth dissuades youngsters to migrate to different countries for their career prospects, and start working their own communities. Another positive impact of this shift is on environmentally sustainable practices. This is mainly because when food is produced locally it limits the import and export trade, which is associated with carbon emissions by transportation process. To exemplify, in Mumbai, it has been reported that carbon footprints have reduced to greater extent. The reason for this is that the government stated investing in local business resulting in reduced transportation for import and export.Hence, it is clear that it is completely a positive development for both nation and individuals for their own well-being.
To reiterate, nowadays consumers are inclined towards locally produced good, I believe it is a positive trend because it generates career opportunities, reduces carbon emissions , and provide healthier meal option to individuals. This complete shift towards locally produced products benefits both nation and individuals in a long-term success.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing clear reasons for the trend and a definitive stance on its positive nature. The ideas are well-developed, particularly regarding economic growth and environmental benefits. However, some arguments are slightly over-generalized, such as the claim that all locally produced food is free from chemical fertilizers. While the position is clear throughout, the development of the 'reasons' section could be more nuanced to reach the highest band. Overall, the response is focused and relevant to the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the reasons from the evaluation of the trend. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Consequently', and 'To exemplify' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is a bit repetitive. The progression of ideas is clear, and the essay maintains a consistent focus on the topic throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally appropriate and sufficient for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'carbon footprints', 'genetically produced', and 'economic balance'. There are occasional minor errors in word choice or collocation, such as 'motivating framers' (likely meaning 'farmers') and 'balanced their economic circumstances'. While the range is adequate to convey meaning precisely, it lacks the sophisticated, natural control required for a higher band. The vocabulary is functional and supports the arguments well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as subject-verb agreement errors ('food... provides' instead of 'provide') and awkward phrasing ('dissuades youngsters to migrate' instead of 'dissuades youngsters from migrating'). Punctuation is generally correct, though there are minor spacing issues before commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The majority of the content is understandable, but more attention to verb forms and preposition usage is needed.
