Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 185 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address the reasons for buying local goods and provides an opinion on whether it is a positive trend, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the claim that imported goods are 'not good quality' or 'not budget friendly' is stated without any supporting evidence or logical explanation. The ideas are under-developed, and the conclusion is extremely brief, failing to summarize the main points effectively. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. Many sentences are disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is very limited and often misused. For example, the transition 'Moreover' in the conclusion is used incorrectly as it does not add to a previous point but rather introduces a new one. The referencing is also unclear at times, such as 'It is impact on the growth of country,' which lacks a clear subject. The lack of logical flow between sentences makes the text difficult to follow, and the paragraphing does not effectively separate the different parts of the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. Phrases such as 'good quality,' 'local area goods,' and 'good impact' are used repeatedly throughout the text. There is a lack of variety and precision in word choice. For instance, 'important goods' is likely a misuse of 'imported goods,' and 'Many type discount' is grammatically and lexically incorrect. To achieve a higher band score, you need to expand your vocabulary to include more precise terms related to economics, trade, and consumer behavior, and avoid repeating the same simple adjectives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'People are think' and 'human think domestic goods is better.' Articles are frequently missing or misused, for example, 'in today' world' and 'in goods is available.' The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there are very few attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of full stops in the middle of phrases. Significant improvement in basic sentence construction is required.
