Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic benefits and freshness, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the mention of 'medicine' on imported goods is a vague claim that needs more precise explanation. The position is clear from the introduction, but the supporting points are repetitive and could be extended with more sophisticated reasoning to reach a higher band. To improve, ensure each paragraph explores the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments more thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Because of it boost' and 'This way also allows' are used awkwardly, creating a disjointed flow. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the conclusion where 'This factors' is grammatically incorrect and lacks a clear link to the preceding points. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. You rely on basic terms like 'things', 'goods', and 'get', which are repeated frequently. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'local produces' (should be 'produce') and 'heathier' (spelling error). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation prevent a higher score. Try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to economics, supply chains, and consumer behaviour.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people needs', 'This factors provide'), incorrect verb forms ('which further explains', 'as compared to buy'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency.
