Student answer (Band 6.5)
As people are becoming increasingly conscious about their shopping preferences, the locally produced commodities are being prioritized by the consumers rather than ones brought from other countries. This trend not only promotes sustainability and employment opportunities but also has a positive effect on health.
Initially, locally produced goods boost economic sustainability because the money spent on these things remains within a nation and uplifts the income of the vendors and shopkeepers, providing them with a good amount and a stable source of earning. Secondly, It supports reduced employment rates. For example, if the demand for a local product increases, it needs to be produced in a large quantity and more manpower is required to fulfil this demand. So, it becomes very easy to find a career for the people in that area and the unemployment rates eventually decrease. Lastly, it also impacts eating habits and health. Population gets to enjoy the fresh produce grown in the local fields and lead a healthy life due to the absence of preservatives and other chemicals to keep the food fresh for longer periods of time, in their food. Consequently, it helps to take care of one's health as well.
To conclude, this trend has positive effects on both the society and an individual. It is a good step to tackle unemployment by creating more jobs as well as it helps stop going a nation's money outside, boosting its economy along with benefiting health of the citizens when fresh produce is easily available. Thus, it is considered highly profitable and positive for all the parties.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and your opinion on whether it is positive or negative. Your position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as economic sustainability and health benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat brief. For instance, the point about 'reduced employment rates' is actually a logical error in your writing; you likely meant 'reduced unemployment rates'. Expanding on your examples with more specific detail or real-world context would help you reach a higher band score by providing more depth to your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use transition signals such as 'Initially', 'Secondly', 'For example', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, the cohesion is occasionally mechanical. For example, the sentence 'It supports reduced employment rates' is confusing because the phrasing suggests the opposite of your intended meaning. Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as the final sentence of the second paragraph. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that cohesive devices are used to connect ideas more naturally would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'commodities', 'sustainability', and 'preservatives'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'reduced employment rates' (which should be 'reduced unemployment rates') and 'stop going a nation's money outside' (which is awkward phrasing). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, you could improve by incorporating more precise collocations and less common lexical items to demonstrate a wider range. Overall, your vocabulary is functional and allows for clear communication of your ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the locally produced commodities are being prioritized' (passive voice is fine, but the article usage is slightly unnatural) and 'in their food' at the end of a sentence, which creates redundancy. Punctuation is generally accurate, though some sentence structures are slightly clunky. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score for accuracy.
