Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has been see that some cutomers prefer to purchase things that are manufactured in their own country or region as compare to order it from other places. There are several reasons behind this trend like the financial condition and quality of local products and I personally think it is a positive trend which I will explain in following paragraphs.

To commence with, clients have to pay extra charges for delivery when they buy things outside their location which is a necessary step. Consequently, they prefer buing it from local stores which helps them to save money and manage their expenses well. Secondly, products that are naturally produced are organic and contain good quality which attracts more customers to spend on those. Therefore, individuals visit nearby retail stores to buy product with are produced authentically.

Additionally, it also resulted in positive outcomes. Firstly, customers spend money to buy goods locally. Thus, the money spent by them stays in the local area which could be used for other tasks too and this would help to strenghten the national economy. Moreover, more people going to superstores which also creates the demand of workers at that store. Eventually, this would help to create job oppertunities and increase the need of more workers with reatil experience.

To conclude, I think the trust of people and their financial status make them decide to buy from native producers. This has many benfits like increasing the GDP of the country and also to provide more job options to residents.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding 'financial condition' is vague, and the argument about 'organic' quality is not fully supported with specific examples. While the position is clear, the supporting points lack depth and could benefit from more detailed elaboration to reach a higher band. The response covers all requirements but remains at a basic level of development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Consequently', and 'Additionally' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'product with are produced'. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the structure helps the reader follow the argument, though the range of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'buing', 'strenghten', 'oppertunities', and 'reatil'. Additionally, some word choices are repetitive or slightly unnatural, such as 'things' and 'tasks'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'national economy' and 'GDP', the overall range is limited, and the frequent spelling mistakes occasionally distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. Examples include 'It has been see' (passive voice error), 'as compare to order it' (infinitive/gerund error), and 'product with are produced' (relative clause error). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors—particularly with verb forms and prepositions—prevents the writing from achieving a higher score. More attention to subject-verb agreement and sentence construction is needed.
