Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has become increasingly common for people to purchase domestically manufactured products instead of buy imported goods. There are several reasons behind this trend. Although it has some drawbacks, I believe it is largely a positive development.
One main reason why people give more priority to local products rather than imported items is because they contribute to boost the economy of the country. When people buy products from the local businesses in their surrounding areas, they help to expand the small businesses. Since when more local products would be used, companies may hire more workers to manufacture goods in a large quantity in order to meet the demand of consumers. The money might remains in their local area, which increases the economy of the local community.
Another reason of using local products is beneficial for the environment. If products are imported from other nations, it would require transportation to ship the items from one place to another. This process can lead air pollution as transport vehicles emit carbon footprints that can mix in the air and reduce the air quality. So, by using domestic items, individuals not only protect the environment but also save their time.
However, the goods can be purchased from different places that are not produced locally. Sometimes, a nation has lack of products and not enough resources to produce some items at their local areas such as, medicians, electronic gadgets, and many more, in such conditions the products might be imported from other countries in order to fulfill the needs of consumers. As a result, people can enjoy such products that are even not manufactured in their local places.
In conclusion, while having a few drawback of this phenomenon, in my opinion, it brings significant benefits for the economy as well as environment. People should use non-domestic items if they not available in the local area.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend (economic growth and environmental benefits) and providing a clear opinion on its positive nature. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed. However, the explanation of the economic benefits is slightly repetitive, and the final paragraph introduces a counter-argument that is not fully integrated into the overall stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, distinct point that directly supports your position, and avoid minor logical gaps, such as the claim that buying local 'saves time' without further explanation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'One main reason', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the awkward phrasing 'Since when more local products would be used' in the second paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'domestically manufactured' and 'phenomenon'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'contribute to boost' (should be 'contribute to boosting'), 'medicians' (incorrect term for medicines), and 'a nation has lack of products' (should be 'a nation lacks products'). Expanding your range of collocations and ensuring accurate word forms will help improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'The money might remains' (subject-verb agreement), 'if they not available' (missing verb), and 'even not manufactured' (incorrect word order). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more consistent control over basic grammatical rules and sentence construction. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct placement of adverbs would be beneficial.
