Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and whether it is a positive or negative trend. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the economic benefit is mentioned, the explanation is somewhat superficial and relies on questionable statistics (e.g., '67%'). The second body paragraph regarding customer service is relevant but lacks depth. The conclusion is very brief and does not effectively summarise the main arguments. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples that are logically sound, ensuring that the 'positive or negative' aspect is clearly articulated throughout the essay rather than just implied.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and misuse of cohesive devices. For example, 'To commence' and 'To recapitulate' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'forks' (likely meaning 'folks') and 'pupil' (likely meaning 'people'), which disrupts the reader's understanding. The transition between ideas is mechanical rather than fluid. To improve, focus on using linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and frequently inaccurate, which often impedes communication. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'Raw produces' instead of 'local produce', 'tread' instead of 'trend', and 'forks' instead of 'folks'. The use of 'pupil' to refer to consumers is also incorrect in this context. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'import duties' and 'economy', the overall range is narrow and repetitive. To reach a higher band, you need to work on collocations and ensure that the words you choose are appropriate for the context of a formal essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your writing. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Indian did not need'), article usage (e.g., 'boost it's economy'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors that make them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt at complex structures, they are often faulty, such as 'if pupil spend more amount on their country's production, it helps country to boost it's economy.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
