Student answer (Band 5.5)

It has been observed that, some consumers are highly choosing to buy goods that are produced in their local area rather than imported goods. In my point of view, I firmly believe this is a positive trend. I will illustrate this topic with examples in upcoming paragraphs.

There are few brighter side of choosing to buy goods. Firstly, we know the making process. Also, it is affordable for local people. For example, our country is extremely good at food industry. However, food with better quality is deserved to be send in our country itself later we should deliver to another country. Although, we have enough quality and quantity of food with reasonable price. It is also nearby local area. So, people will easily purchase. Secondly, I want to talk about fashion designing. We have enough mill and company for clothes. It is increasingly choosing to buy good clothes that are manufacturing in their local area rather than imported goods.

Although, there are some disadvantages of this point. Each and every scenario had their prons and cons with different perspective. If we are more choosing to buy rather than imported then we could not experiences different cultures and their traditions. We stuck in the routine that we knows from the beginning. Furthermore, if we want to explore new things, we have to imported goods. According to that, it creates bond between two country. I believe that, everyone needs help in their bad phase. So, these import and export business will helpful for both country.

To conclude the point, consumers are more towards select to buy good which are produced in their local market is positive trend. Additionally, I believe at some point that imported goods are not always wrong as I mentioned earlier.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and whether this is a positive or negative trend. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the food industry and fashion, the explanations are somewhat repetitive and lack specific, well-supported examples. The position is clear, but the arguments are not fully extended. For instance, the point about 'knowing the making process' is mentioned but not elaborated upon to explain why this is a significant consumer motivation. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by a detailed explanation and a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'According to that' and 'To conclude the point' are used in ways that do not always fit the context. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, making the flow of ideas feel slightly fragmented. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'Each and every scenario had their prons and cons with different perspective.' Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations, such as 'highly choosing,' 'brighter side of choosing,' and 'we have to imported goods.' You also use 'choosing' repeatedly, which limits the sophistication of your writing. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise nouns and verbs, and ensure that word forms are used correctly (e.g., 'import' vs 'imported'). Expanding your vocabulary to include topic-specific collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Each and every scenario had their prons'), incorrect verb forms ('food with better quality is deserved to be send'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic sentence construction and tense consistency.
