Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has been observed that some people are choosing to purchase products that are locally produced in their area, rather than buying imported items. I prseume that the benefits of these precautionary action would surpass its drawbacks to a major extent. My position is elaborated further with reasons and relevant examples.
Examining the brighter side of, the foremost one is thatl purchasing locally produced goods support their own economy. As the demand of these products increase, their production increases giving a boost to manufacturing businesses. For example, during Gaza war many people opted to purchase locally made soft drinks which resulted in immediate demand of production. Moreover, preferring local items also provide employement opportunities for many people. This benefits the job sector as well as strengthens the industries and bussinesses. For example, staff is always hired when a business is running well to meet customer demands.
Furthermore, the mentioned benefits, local goods reflect cultural significance and are made keeping the needs of people in mind. To add to, it will also attract tourists and foreigners to try products which are widely used and preffered in a region.
On the contrary, I would not overlook the downsides. To begin with, local products are usually cheap but their quality can be compromised. That is why many people like to opt for imported items that are trusted worldwide even if they are expensive. For example, most of the individual;s buy imported skin care products becuase of the trust they have in those brands which will only use skin friendly ingredients.
To conclude, there are both merits and demerits of buying local products. However, I believe that supporting our own production is a positive trend because it is beneficial for economy, support to business.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. The position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the economic benefits are explained reasonably well, the point regarding cultural significance is underdeveloped and lacks a concrete example. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and contains a grammatical error ('support to business'), which slightly weakens the final summary of the argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that every point is supported by a specific, well-explained example.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'On the contrary' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Examining the brighter side of, the foremost one is thatl'. Additionally, some transitions are repetitive or slightly misused, such as 'To add to'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within the second paragraph could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, covering topics like 'economy', 'manufacturing', and 'employment'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are occasionally marred by spelling errors (e.g., 'prseume', 'employement', 'bussinesses', 'preffered'). Some word choices are slightly imprecise, such as 'precautionary action' to describe buying local goods, which does not fit the context perfectly. While the errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on accurate spelling and more precise collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout, including subject-verb agreement issues ('staff is always hired', 'most of the individual;s buy'), punctuation errors (the semicolon in 'individual;s'), and awkward phrasing ('the benefits of these precautionary action'). While the meaning remains clear, these frequent errors indicate a lack of control over more complex structures. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that punctuation is used correctly to enhance, rather than disrupt, the flow of sentences.
