Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this era, trend of importing and exporting goods significantly changed. It is believed that some buyers are prioritize to buy good that are locally grown rather than imported from other cities or countries. In this essay i will discuss why people are following this trend and its impact on individuals.
People have reduced the amount of purchasing imported goods because of the price issue, the reason is if we transport any food or electric or furniture products in different city or country there are lot of hidden cost behind that like transportation, custom duty, packers and movers cost, tax all this things make its price more than local market.
Whereas buying locally produced goods give you a fresh and good quality product. Food and other dairy products made nearby are often very fresh and good in taste not like frozen food which was made 2-3 weeks ago and vacuum packed are not good in taste as fresh ones. Apart from that if goods are purchased from local community then money will be rotating in the surrounding community and help all of them to grow together. As an example local farmer market not just support local community with fresh and good quality food but also helps environment by reducing the amount of carbon footprint which is associated with long distance transportation.
Negative side is that, if people only purchased local goods then they might have less options in shopping because imported items have more options than locally. Moreover people will be less aware about the new goods from different nations.
to conclude, buy items from locally helps to boost counties economy help farmers and makers to earn and also people get good quality food and items. on the other hand imported items also keep people updated about current global trends and provide more options in shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the evaluation of whether this is a positive or negative trend. The ideas are relevant, such as cost-effectiveness, freshness, and environmental impact. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of the 'negative side' is brief and lacks depth. While the position is clear, the essay would benefit from more detailed examples or a more nuanced discussion of the global versus local trade-off to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall development remains at a functional level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the reasons for the trend to the evaluation of its impact. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Apart from that', 'Moreover', 'to conclude'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence '...if we transport any food or electric or furniture products in different city or country there are lot of hidden cost behind that'. Improving the variety and sophistication of linking words would enhance the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'custom duty', 'carbon footprint', and 'vacuum packed'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'buyers are prioritize to buy good' instead of 'buyers prioritize buying goods' and 'money will be rotating' instead of 'circulating'. The range is sufficient for the task, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in collocation prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('trend of importing... significantly changed'), missing articles ('in different city'), and punctuation errors (e.g., the lack of capitalization for 'i' and the start of sentences). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction, article usage, and ensuring consistent verb tenses.
