Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a significant increase in numbers of people purchasing products from their local area rather than buy imported ones. In this essay we will discuss both pros and cons of whether goods should be bought locally or imported.
On the one hand, there are those who supports local markets. To begin with, people prefer it because the food sold there is organic and healthy which means it has been naturally grown and include vitamins, proteins and fibre. For instance, in rural area there are many farms that produce vegetables and fruits which are taken care from months to grow them. Then when they are fully grown they sell them within days and at affordable prices. Moreover, they will be beneficial for the environment as they will not require transportation through ships and plane which reduces the pollution.
On the other hand, foreign goods are bought in large quantities from another countries which makes them expensive. Due to the fact that selling them should cover its transportation expenses and give profit the sellers.
In addition, the imported goods include chemicals to keep them fresh. For example, foreign goods are transported from one country to another through cargos which usually takes up to 3 months. Indicating that to keep them fresh they have chemicals which can be harmful for people's health.
Taking everything into consideration,I personally believe that we should promote more the local goods and support local farmers. Because they work so hard to maintain the crops, vegetables and fruits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The reasons for the trend are clear, but the discussion on whether it is a positive or negative trend is underdeveloped. While you state your personal belief in the conclusion, the body paragraphs focus more on the characteristics of local versus imported goods rather than explicitly evaluating the trend as a whole. To reach a higher band, ensure that the evaluation of the trend is integrated more thoroughly into the body paragraphs, providing a more balanced analysis of the implications.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In addition' to link your points. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow could be smoother. For example, the sentence 'Due to the fact that selling them should cover its transportation expenses and give profit the sellers' is a sentence fragment that lacks a clear connection to the previous thought. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring all sentences are complete would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'organic', 'transportation expenses', and 'imported goods'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'taken care from months' should be 'taken care of for months', and 'give profit the sellers' is awkward phrasing. Additionally, some vocabulary is repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'goods'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations, and pay closer attention to the prepositional phrases that accompany specific verbs.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use some complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('those who supports' should be 'those who support') and missing articles ('in rural area' should be 'in rural areas'). There are also issues with sentence construction, such as the fragment mentioned in the coherence section. While these errors do not generally impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
