Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The explanation regarding inflation and the Russia-Ukraine war is relevant but lacks depth. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of the argument. To improve, you should expand on your points with more specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'it because it help' or 'with that people also'. The progression of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the final paragraph, which restates the conclusion without adding new insight. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, distinct focus that builds upon the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'Nowaday', 'foriegner', 'economoy', 'stuffe', 'monly') and word choice issues (e.g., 'inflammation' instead of 'inflation', 'convest' instead of 'convert'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and practice using synonyms to avoid repetition. Expanding your vocabulary related to economics and global trade would also be highly beneficial for this type of task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('many customer are', 'it help the both'), incorrect word forms ('foriegner goods'), and sentence structure errors ('This is a positive trend, it because it help'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading your work for basic errors like missing 's' on plurals would also significantly improve your score.
