Student answer (Band 6.0)
The tendency of buying locally produced goods by consumers has been increasing, instead of purchasing imported goods. The main reason associated with this shift is more variety in products with less cost. I firmly believe that this is a positive trend.
The prominent reason behind this phenomenon is that it provides a wider options to consumers to choose from. Local people will always provide goods to buyers as per the new trend at a affordable cost, and on the other side perhaps the imported goods will be more costly due to the transportation cost and tariffs. It is extremely hard to predict the demand of buyers in other countries.
The first and foremost positive impact of this trend is it will boost the local economy by providing job opportunities to the local people. Consequently, it would improve buying power of the people and will lift the life style of people in the community. In addition, it will help the people who has a talent or special skills such as craft, knitting, and painting by hand to demonstrate their talent to others.
Another positive impact of buying local products rather than imported is affordability. Due to advancement in technology, people can buy same copy of imported product at a local market at a reasonable cost. It offers a chance to everyone to buy goods without putting burden on their pockets.
To conclude, there could be numerous reason behind buying goods from local market instead of consuming imported goods, However the main reason is it provides a lot of variety to the consumers .It has numerous benefits such as affordability, and it improves the economic condition of a country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that local goods are cheaper due to transportation costs is a valid point, but the argument regarding 'variety' is not fully supported or explained clearly. The explanation of the economic benefits is better developed, but the overall analysis lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or logical chains of reasoning to support your claims rather than simply stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. There is a logical progression of ideas from the reasons to the benefits. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive (e.g., 'The first and foremost', 'In addition', 'Another positive impact'). Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the summary of reasons does not perfectly align with the points made in the body paragraphs. Improving the variety and natural flow of linking words would enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'imported goods', 'transportation cost', and 'economic condition'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'lift the life style' instead of 'improve the standard of living' and 'putting burden on their pockets' which is an informal idiom. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary rather than relying on common, slightly informal expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the people who has a talent' should be 'have'), article usage ('a affordable cost' should be 'an affordable cost'), and minor punctuation errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic agreement and article usage to ensure your writing is more polished.
