Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is incontrovertible that for items which are produced locally, customers are progessively selecting those products as compared to foreign products. In this discourse, I will explain factors behind this trend and how it leads to a negative development.
In this contemporary world, things are getting expensive and a wise choice of product is vital. One of the most prominent reasons in favor of choosing local products is affordability and convenience. In other words, most imported items are exorbitant due to import duties and because of imposed tariffs by their nations. In addition to this, it is quite simple for returns or exchanges of locally manufactured goods as their parent companies usually reside in the city or state. Moreover, a consumer can have a wide range of choices while selecting any item, if it is produced by local residents as compared to a limited choice of imported goods.
However, this movement leads to a pessimistic outcome as by totally relying on local items, a resident could become unfamiliar with the more advanced products of other nations. For instance, in India, people are fond of local yogurt and they are not aware of Greek yogurt, which is high in protein, bought from western countries such as from Canada or The United States of America. Therefore, they would eventually miss the opportunity by choosing only local products. Furthermore, quality could be compromised, if sellers know that customers are just focusing on the country of manufacture, not on other factors.
To recapitulate, after taking everything into consideration, it can be said that some factors behind this trend are affordability, hassle-free deals and numerous choices, nevertheless, this behaviour of customer could potentially results in negative development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and your opinion on whether it is positive or negative. Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the reasons for buying local are explained reasonably well, the argument regarding the negative impact is less convincing. For example, the claim that consumers become 'unfamiliar' with advanced products is a weak argument, as global trade usually ensures availability regardless of local preference. To reach a higher band, ensure your supporting arguments are more logically robust and avoid over-generalising about consumer behavior or product quality.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'In addition to this', 'Moreover', and 'To recapitulate' to link your ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs could be improved. Some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the connection between the idea of 'local yogurt' and the broader negative impact on the economy or innovation is not fully developed. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the central topic of each paragraph is clear, which helps the reader follow your argument without difficulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas clearly. You use some sophisticated terms like 'incontrovertible', 'exorbitant', and 'pessimistic outcome'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'hassle-free deals' (which is slightly informal) and 'this behaviour of customer could potentially results in' (grammatical error affecting lexical accuracy). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your vocabulary choices are consistently natural and appropriate for a formal essay context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical slips that occur throughout the text. For example, 'this behaviour of customer could potentially results in' contains a subject-verb agreement error ('results' should be 'result'). Additionally, 'as compared to foreign products' is slightly awkward in this context. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentence structures are punctuated correctly.
