Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For example, the argument regarding price is explained by listing costs, but the explanation lacks depth. Similarly, the economic benefits are mentioned twice without significant expansion. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced examples or explore the counter-arguments to demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of the topic. The ideas are relevant, but the support provided is somewhat basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'To elaborate this' and 'To explain this'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'This is a fact that local market contribute a lot', where the connection to the previous sentence could be smoother. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring better flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'commodities', 'import duties', and 'GDP rate'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'a ample of causes', 'more cheaper', and 'human skills' (when referring to labor). These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more precise vocabulary usage. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that adjectives and nouns are used in their correct forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('local market contribute') and incorrect comparative forms ('more cheaper'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing before commas. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring correct comparative structures will significantly improve your accuracy.
