Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's world, an increasing number of customers prefer to buy local products over the imported goods. This trend is mainly driven by several factors, including quality concern, people's desire to support local businesses and environmental concern. I believe that it is a largely positive trend because its positive effects on local development make this approach more beneficial.
One major reason behind this change is the desire of local residents to boast local economy and improve living standards. Buying products from local shops would help those businesses to earn more, and eventually expand their businesses. It can create more job opportunities and strengthen local economy. Moreover, locally produced goods are reliable in terms of quality and prices. This is because every individual is familiar with raw material used to create a product, and there are no additional costs included such as transportation cost and overseas taxes. For example, If an international company sells they products in another country they add exporting charges, put on taxes, which make price up.
Furthermore, imported goods usually travel long distances through different mode of transportation. It can increase transportation related emissions, which may leads to environmental pollution. For example, more the distance the vehicle covered, more the green houses gas are emitted.
However, while this development provides several benefits to protect environment and improve people's living standard, this importance of international trade should not be overlooked. It plays an essential role to maintain corporative relationships with other countries in the competitive commercial globalization world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and providing a clear opinion on whether it is positive. Your ideas are relevant, such as economic growth and environmental impact. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'raw materials' is a bit vague, and the environmental argument could be more deeply explored with specific examples. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully expanded with more detailed explanation or concrete evidence rather than just stating the premise.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'One major reason,' 'Moreover,' and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'they products' instead of 'their products.' Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that the flow between sentences is more natural and less reliant on simple signposting words.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'commercial globalization' and 'environmental pollution.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice or minor errors, such as 'boast local economy' (should be 'boost') and 'green houses gas' (should be 'greenhouse gases'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' missing before 'environment'), pluralization ('they products'), and subject-verb agreement ('which may leads to'). Additionally, there are punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'more the distance the vehicle covered, more the green houses gas are emitted.' These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
