Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent days, it is becoming increasingly popular to choose products that are available locally. Many customers choose to purchase such items from local area instead of imported ones. There are several reasons behind this trend and in my opinion, this is a positive trend.

Firstly, all the customers would like to get a product in reasonable price and in immediate basis due to multiple reasons. This is only possible if they choose local market. Imported goods come from overseas most of the time and it can charge extra due to shipping and delivering to various places. Additionally, local area can provide products in cheaper price without any damage to the products.

Secondly, local food items are also fresh and consumable right away. The consumers would obviously choose fresh food products with less preservatives and additive substances. This reduces the amount of frozen and ready to eat food items in individuals daily life. Moreover, local good purchase can help the local vendors and it increases the local economy of that area and it helps the local businesses.

In my opinion, choosing local goods over imported goods is the best way to help our economy and it improves the employment level for local vendors. This can reduce the amount of unemployment in society. The government also spreads awareness to purchase local goods to improve the countries currency value.

To summaries, local goods should be purchased by more populous as it can help our country to increase employment and it encourages businessman to expand their business and hire more people to build a successful business.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as cost-effectiveness, freshness of food, and economic benefits. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'government awareness' is mentioned but not fully explained. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments could be extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. Overall, it covers all requirements of the task adequately.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'To summaries' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother in the second paragraph. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'consumable' and 'preservatives', but there are also instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'in immediate basis' (should be 'on an immediate basis') and 'local good purchase' (should be 'purchasing local goods'). The range is sufficient to discuss the topic, but more precise collocations and a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary would be needed for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'in reasonable price' (at a reasonable price), 'in cheaper price' (at a cheaper price), and 'more populous' (should be 'more people' or 'the general population'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. More attention to articles and prepositions would improve accuracy.
