Student answer (Band 5.5)
A few individuals believes to buy goods that are produced in their local area, rather than imported goods. This essay totally agrees with the statement because it helps to boost the local economy and get healthy foods.
One of the advantages of choosing local products is that it supports in the local economy of the country by people produced different goods in their area like paddy, grains, cereals, vegetables, fruits which they sell in the market, which helps to earn money, leading economic growth. For example, In Nepal, People from Jumla produced apples and sell in the market helps to increase living standard.
Another advantages why people prefer to use local goods rather than imported good is that they get healthy and fresh foods from the local market, leading healthier life. they get fresh products which are less preservatives, use less chemicals and colors and costly comparison to imported goods. we can get seasonal foods according to different season for different taste. For example, In Nepal, different foods and vegetables are grown without chemicals and get healthy foods, resulting the chances of living heathy life.
This is a positive trend because using the goods in our own area supports the people living here and it lowers the cost as well.
To conclude, I agree with the statement that consumer should choose the goods that are produced in their local area to boost the economic growth and to live a healthy life by consuming heathy products from the local area.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While you mention economic growth and health benefits, the explanation remains superficial. Furthermore, the response is 249 words, which is one word short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This under-length, combined with the lack of depth in supporting arguments, prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure you fully expand on your points with more detailed analysis and ensure you meet the minimum word count to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Another advantages', 'For example'). The transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between 'people produced' and 'economic growth' is grammatically disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences flow logically from one to the next without relying on repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'healthy', and 'money'. There are also issues with word formation and collocation, such as 'people produced' instead of 'people produce' and 'less preservatives' instead of 'fewer preservatives'. The repetition of 'local' and 'goods' throughout the text limits your lexical score. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and ensure you are using words in their correct grammatical form and context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('A few individuals believes'), incorrect verb forms ('people produced'), and awkward phrasing ('resulting the chances of living heathy life'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over complex structures. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
