Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, customers prefer to purchase the products produce in their own country rather than buying the imported goods. I belived it is a positve trend because people understand the value and pricing of the products as compared to the goods of foreign country.

First and foremost reason behind purchasing the product made in the local area is its cost. Because when people will buy imported goods they also have to pay for shipping price of that product from their own pocket. For example - if person buy clothes made in their own county will be cheaper as compared to other nation of same style and design as it will not include shipping charges. This reason allow consumers to purchase the things as it helps them to save money.

Moreover, it also helps the owners who produce the products to increase in the sales of their goods in their own country. This also helps to decrease the unemployment as more people will get jobs in that areas. Additionally, it also helps government to decrease the import of those products which can be easily manufactured in their own nation. Instead, they can import other essential items which are unable to produce. This will also help to decrease the burden on government budget system of importing goods. Furthmore, it also helps to boost the economic development and if the production will be more industries can also start exporting the same goods.

To conclude, I belive buing the products manufactured in your own country will benefit both customer and government rather than buying same goods from different countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for choosing local goods and the evaluation of the trend. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the economic benefits are mentioned, the arguments regarding 'shipping costs' and 'government budget' are slightly repetitive and could be expanded with more nuanced examples. The response covers all requirements, but the depth of analysis is consistent with a Band 6 level, as some points are stated rather than fully explored.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the government's budget and the export of goods in the final body paragraph is slightly abrupt. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'burden on government budget system' and 'unable to produce'. While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited to basic terms. There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'buing' instead of 'buying'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific terminology related to economics and trade.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the products produce', 'the government'), subject-verb agreement ('if person buy'), and pluralisation. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. The use of complex structures is attempted, but they often contain minor inaccuracies. Improving control over basic grammar and punctuation would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
