Student answer (Band 6.0)

The trend of shopping indigenous products are inclined at very rapid pace in the society due to various reasons such as affordable prices and government support. Moreover, this trend has plausible results to boost the local industry.

Certainly, the first and foremost reason for this shift is the prices of local products are less as compare to the imported goods. Local firms do not have to pay the charges of import duties and heavy transportation costs which makes the cost of their product cheap in the market for the same quality sale on heavy price by foreign companies. For instance, a product made in Canada is cheaper in the Canadian market due to less taxes on the product.

In addition, every nation support their own companies to become a self sufficient and decline their dependecy on other countries. For this, civic authorities make their policies which are beneficial for their own industry sector. For example, reduce the taxes and provide subsidies to start up new businesses and large factories as well. Resultantly, this companies have platforms to sell their product easily in the protective market by their government.

Definately, it is positive step especially for the developing nations towards the development because it not only provide employment to the local employers but also help their economy by save their wealth and circulate in their own nation.

To conclude, although, every firm has right to sell their product any where in the world due to globalisation, to support the local companies are also significant as a nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as cost-effectiveness and government support. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of government support is a bit repetitive, and the argument regarding the positive nature of the trend could be more deeply explored with more specific consequences. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'Resultantly', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly misused (e.g., 'Definately' to start a paragraph). The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving from reasons to the evaluation of the trend. Paragraphing is sufficient, and the overall structure is easy to follow, although the flow between sentences could be smoother in some places.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'indigenous', 'plausible', and 'globalisation'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice or collocation errors, such as 'shopping indigenous products are inclined at very rapid pace' and 'same quality sale on heavy price'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a lack of precision in word usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('every nation support', 'this companies have'), article misuse, and awkward phrasing ('less as compare to'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points. To improve, the student should focus on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage.
