Student answer (Band 6.0)
Undoubtedly, these days the shift in purchasing habits for local products can be easily seen among customers. However, there are various reasons for the growing inclination towards this trend, which will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs. Also, I firmly believe that this pattern has more advantages in comparison to disadvantages which I will explain with the supporting ideas ahead.
First and the foremost reason for this shift is the increasing awareness among the residents for the importance of supporting their own people. For instance, if on festivals we will purchase what our people have designed and created will contribute towards generating income for running their families and hence a peaceful nation would survive if everyone here would be happy in the family. Secondly, nowadays consumers want to buy what is grown by their people to acknowledge their efforts. Furthermore, it is cheaper as compared to the imported products which gives them advantage on the financial side as well.
I strongly believe that it has several merits for this change. To exemplify, products purchased from another country would include heavy import duties imposed on them which will have to bear by the consumer. Also, the profit will be earned by the outsiders rather than our country people.
To conclude, I aver that there are enormous benefits for buying the locally produced or created products than depending on other countries in terms of employment, revenue and profit generation for their own people and hence, leading to a happier nation with happy people inside.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding 'festivals' is vague and lacks a clear link to economic theory. The explanation of import duties is a relevant point, but it is not fully expanded to demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of the topic. The position is clear throughout, but the supporting arguments could be more detailed and analytical to reach a higher band. The response meets the minimum length requirement, but the depth of content remains limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First and the foremost', 'Secondly', and 'Furthermore' are used to link sentences. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the sentence 'I strongly believe that it has several merits for this change', where 'it' lacks a clear antecedent. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the overall flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and more sophisticated referencing to connect ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is some attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'import duties' and 'revenue generation'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler phrasing. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'our country people' or 'happy people inside'. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to convey their points with greater nuance and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, 'if on festivals we will purchase... will contribute' is grammatically incorrect. Another error is 'which will have to bear by the consumer', which should be passive voice ('be borne by'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to subject-verb agreement and complex sentence accuracy is needed.
