Student answer (Band 5.0)
Ample of consumers are risingly preferred for purchasing things which are manufactured in their local area as compared to imported products . There are numerous reasons of this thing which i will discuss in the subsequent paragraphs with its positive trend along with examples.
To commence with, numerous reasons can be seen behind buying goods from local retailers. First and foremost is that they can get alots of choices if they buy stuff from local stores . They can choose colours and quality of products there. Moreover, money can be saved by masses when they buy locally rather then imported products because imported products are too expensive than locally. For instance, kiwi is fruit of Newzealand so it is expensive fruit as compared to another which is grown in our nation.
It has a positive impact not only on local retailers but also it increases the economy of the country because countries need not spend money on imported goods where they have to pay taxes and lots of money as well as local retailers will demolish because of imported products. As a result, if people buy goods from local areas , they help local areas .
After pondering the great deal of thoughts, i clearly see that people buy goods from local markets because of affordable prices and choices which is impacted positively on local markets and helps for increasing economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. However, the ideas are under-developed, particularly the explanation of the economic impact, which remains vague. The response is also under the 250-word minimum, which significantly limits the depth of the argument. While the position is clear, the lack of word count and limited supporting detail prevent a higher score. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure each paragraph provides a more thorough explanation of the points raised.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'After pondering the great deal of thoughts' to introduce the conclusion. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. While the overall structure is present, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive nature of the transitions limit the coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'things', 'stuff', and 'good'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'risingly preferred' instead of 'increasingly preferring' and 'demolish' used incorrectly to describe the decline of local retailers. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to economics and consumer behaviour, and avoid informal or imprecise phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but these are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('risingly preferred'), subject-verb agreement, and awkward phrasing ('reasons of this thing'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors is high, which impacts the overall quality of the writing. You need to focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
