Student answer (Band 5.5)
Over the past few decades, it has become incresingly evident that individuals are buying goods which is traditionally produced in the local area insted of imported from other countries. While this development may bring certain benefits, I believe that it has both positive and negative aspects. This essay will discuss the reasons of this trend before reaching a conclusion.
On the positive side, Individuals are purchasing local products because people wants to boost their own economy. People wants to develop their own country, If people purchase products which produced in country then those products should be cheap and easy to buy. For example, if a product which is made in India then Indians do not need to pay for the import tax and duties. Another reason is peple prefers produce which grow in the local area because they can puchase fresh and if they are buying imported produce then they will get frozen.
However, there are also some potenial drawbacks associated with this trend. The most significant concern is that their is a risk for export industries, because if country is not ready for import then other country will not prefere to import from the country which is againt the import goods. This can lead negative effect on country's overall economy. Another reason is nowadays a huge group of people are living in foreign country they can not get goods from their native country in the local market.
In conclusion, although choose to buy goods which produced in the local area can provide considerable benefits, it also has certain drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation regarding export industries is unclear and lacks logical depth. While the position is stated in the introduction, it is not consistently maintained or fully explored throughout the body paragraphs. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively summarise the main points discussed. To improve, ensure that each reason is supported by a clear, logical explanation and a more detailed example, and provide a more comprehensive summary of your position in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'another reason is'. Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, making the flow feel disjointed. For example, the shift from discussing local produce to the impact on export industries lacks a smooth logical bridge. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the third paragraph where the connection between 'the country' and the 'other country' is confusing. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear logical progression between sentences would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'incresingly', 'insted', 'peple', and 'puchase'. Additionally, some word choices are imprecise or awkward, such as 'people wants to boost their own economy' (should be 'want') and 'against the import goods'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'import tax' and 'duties', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on learning collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition, and proofread carefully to eliminate basic spelling mistakes that detract from the professional tone of your essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage. For example, 'people wants' should be 'people want', and 'if country is not ready' lacks the necessary articles. There are also issues with sentence fragments and run-on sentences, such as 'People wants to develop their own country, If people purchase...'. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of grammatical errors, particularly with basic verb forms and plurals, limits the score. To progress, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and practice combining simple sentences into more complex, error-free structures using appropriate conjunctions and relative clauses.
