Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has been observed that many people are now buying food from local markets instead of international products. I strongly believe that it is a positive trend. In this essay, I will discuss the reasons behind this trend.

Examining the bright side, the foremost one is that it helps local businesses. Due to online shopping, most of the people avoid going to stores. Therefore, it is beneficial if people choose to shop from local owners. Another reason is that local goods are fresher than imported goods. To explain this, some exporters inject chemicals into food to keep it fresh for transport, whereas local products do not need any chemicals as they come from the neighbourhood. For example, one survey conducted by The Food Inspecting Journal shows that local goods have fewer chemicals compared to international products.

This is a positive trend as it gives people fresh food. This gives people more hygienic food without pesticides. As it comes from local farmers. They do not have to long wait for food to get to their shops. As it comes from nearby farmes. Furthermore, it can contribute to small-town economies. By this, I mean local markets run by local people; they pay rent and town taxes and everything; buying from them can help them to grow.

In conclusion, this trend is positive for both consumers and buyers. As shop owners get a chance to increase their business, whereas shoppers get fresh and authentic goods. This is a win win situation for both.
