Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, most of the individuals prefer to buy goods that are made locally, instead of doing shopping of imported things. In the upcoming paragraphs, I will discuss the reasons behind this, as well as how this is a positive trend.
To commence with, the first and foremost reason is that it helps to improve the economy of the country. In other words, we can say that if local residents buy their daily essentials from the local markets, then it will assist the local sellers in boosting their sales. For instance, a poll was conducted by the health department in 2025 revealed that 67% of the people prefer to by vegitables grown by local farmers instead of buying imported. This is due to the fact that they believe imported fruits and vegetables contain more preservatives than locally produced. Hence, it helps to maintain the economy of the country.
Moving towards the second reason, a few of them considered that buying products from other countries is also expensive as compared to the price of local goods. To explain it, they believe that for imported items, they also have to pay taxes and transportation fees, including the price of local items. To cite an example, a survey conducted by shopkeepers in 2024 revealed that their sales was signifacntly droped by 30% when they tried to sell imported materials. Thus, we can predict that masses want to buy things at affordable prices.
In conclusion, I believe that buying locally produced goods has more fruitful results, as it helps to maintain the economy of the country and people can do shopping under budget.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the reasons for buying local goods and clearly stating that this is a positive trend. The writer introduces relevant ideas such as economic boost and affordability. However, the development of ideas lacks full extension in places. For instance, the paragraph discussing economic benefits quickly pivots into a specific example about vegetables and preservatives, which slightly dilutes the main economic point. Nevertheless, a clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The essay meets the requirements of the task adequately, matching the expectations of a Band 6.0 performance under the official task response descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is coherent overall with a clear, logical arrangement of paragraphs, including a proper introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Moving towards the second reason', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader through the text. However, some referencing and transitional links feel slightly mechanical or forced (e.g., 'Moving towards the second reason'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. While logical progression is present, occasional clumsiness in referencing places this response firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words such as 'preservatives', 'essentials', and 'affordable'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'vegitables' instead of vegetables, 'by' instead of buy, 'signifacntly' instead of significantly, and 'droped' instead of dropped. Furthermore, phrases like 'doing shopping of imported things' sound unnatural. While communication is not impeded by these inaccuracies, the presence of frequent spelling errors and limited control over collocation prevents the score from reaching Band 7.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'if local residents buy their daily essentials from the local markets, then it will assist the local sellers...'. There are several grammatical errors present, particularly in verb forms and prepositions, including 'most of the individuals prefer' (unnecessary article 'the'), 'sales was signifacntly droped' (passive voice error), and 'as compared to the price' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally acceptable, though some double spacing issues appear in the conclusion. These errors do not impede communication, allowing the essay to meet the criteria for Band 6.0.
