Student answer (Band 6.0)
Markets always changing with consumer behaviour. Nowadays, People tend to choose local goods instead of foreign goods. Main reasons are to empower local businesses and buy fresh products. In my opinion this is a positive trend.
To begin with, think a about the barter system that we had in early stages of the economy. people used to work on their specialized areas. If they have a surplus, they exchange with another person. currently people follow a similar strategy, buying products from local farms, shops etc. This gives more power to the village. All the goods are cheap. One of the main reason is no transportation fees included in the price. This will give benefits for the customers as well as the sellers. The other reason is consumers can buy fresh products. Imagine a perosn who sells vegetables. If it is a local shop. The vegetables are fresh. May be 1-2 hours before they pluck those from thier farm. On the other hand, when we consider about the imported vegetables. It is not fresh. Minimum few weeks of transporation time require to reach the destination.
This is a positive trend. Every person should value the benifits this give. This trend encourages to locals to produce more quality goods. The only exception is the seasonal goods are still need to imported from the relevant countries.
In conclusion, considering above mentioned facts. I would say consuming local goods than the imported goods will have lot of positive effects. such as build strong local busniesses and consume healthier products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying the main reasons for buying local goods, such as empowering businesses, avoiding transportation fees, and obtaining fresh products, while also clearly stating a position that this is a positive trend. However, some ideas lack full extension and are slightly disjointed, such as the historical reference to the barter system. The conclusion correctly summarises the main points. The development of ideas meets the requirements for a Band 6.0, as the reasons are relevant and supported by simple examples, though further depth would elevate the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing reasons and evaluating the trend, and finally a conclusion. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as 'Markets always changing' and 'One of the main reason'. Referencing can also be unclear, and transitional phrases between sentences are occasionally abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas, but logical progression between sentences requires better links to reach a higher band. These features align closely with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'consumer behaviour', 'surplus', and 'transportation fees'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'perosn', 'thier', 'benifits', and 'encourages to locals'. Collocations are occasionally awkward, as seen in 'build strong local busniesses'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they restrict the vocabulary score to a Band 5.5, reflecting a mix of appropriate terms and frequent inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are several frequent errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'Markets always changing', 'think a about', 'people used to work on their specialized areas', and 'seasonal goods are still need to imported'. Sentence fragments and awkward structures also appear, such as 'If it is a local shop. The vegetables are fresh.' These errors occasionally cause slight strain for the reader, fitting the Band 5.5 criteria well.
