Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays consumers are purchasing goods that are manufactured in their own region rather than buying goods that are imported from the other countries. This trend is in full throttle and in increasing day by day. Various reasons are their which is affecting this trend. From my point of view this is very positive for a country's economical growth and development.
To start with buying things that are made in our own country helps money flow within our own territory, rather than cash flowing outside from our country. It also help to create number of job opportunities when more people are engage in small busniessess. Moreover people are boycotting foreign goods and prefer by things which our made in their own country. A big example of this is MADE IN INDIA campaign. As per this they boycoatted all the products made in China during their various festivals and only by MADE IN INDIA products which helped the local vendors a lot. For the festival of Diwali no made in China electronic lights were used. People bough traditional Diwas from the local merchants and lit up their houses with that.
However, where there are some pros, there are some cons as well. Sometimes the product imported are relatively cheaper and of better quality as compared to product made in our local market. The reason behind this is the availability of better raw material and the technique that they have cracked. Additionally imported goods are produced on a larger scale which helps them to provide a very competative price in the market and target a specific customers who are not willing to spend much.
To sum up, I would say that this is a positive approach of shifting our purchasing from imported goods to local good. This thing helps both our country and the people in manufacturing of that product.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, exploring both the reasons for choosing local goods—such as economic retention and job creation—and whether this trend is positive or negative, concluding clearly that it is positive. The student supports their ideas with a relevant, real-world example, specifically the 'MADE IN INDIA' campaign. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed and rely on broad generalisations, such as the discussion on foreign manufacturing techniques. Overall, the task is successfully covered, and the writer maintains a consistent position throughout, aligning well with the expectations of Band 6.5 or 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, the reasons for buying local, the counter-argument regarding imported goods, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To start with', 'Moreover', and 'However', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, but there are occasional lapses in cohesion, such as minor abrupt shifts between sentences in the second paragraph, placing this text comfortably in the Band 6 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and phrasing such as 'in full throttle', 'economical growth', and 'boycotting foreign goods'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'economical' instead of 'economic', 'busniessess' instead of 'businesses', 'by' instead of 'buy', 'boycoatted' instead of 'boycotted', and 'competative' instead of 'competitive'. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as relative clauses and conditional-style contrastive sentences ('where there are some pros, there are some cons as well'). However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Various reasons are their which is affecting this trend') and incorrect verb forms ('prefer by things which our made'). While these errors do not obscure the writer's meaning, they prevent the text from achieving a higher band.
