Student answer (Band 4.5)

In my opinion this is very positive because consumers are increasingly choosing to buy goods that are produced in their local area, rather than imported goods. by buying good from thair area they save 2 things time and money they dont need to wait for delivery instant you go by there self and get whatever they want to and they also save there money which they spend in import. In this way the local area goods producer make profit and the area will grow very fast this is best idea for local goods producer and consumers that they can get what they want at thair door step and local good producer get more profit which he wants to increase its work and its good production. Once i need cooking oil for my shop because my old customer want 1000 bottle of cooking oil i was very warried that if i import it, it will take too much time and i have to spend alot of money too then one of my friend tell me i know a local goods producer which can give me what you want he give me his mumber i tell him my order in few hour he ready my order and delivery it to me at that time i relized local goods producer give you more benefits because you get everthings in few hour whatever you want and it save alot of time and alot of money thats why i say local goods producer are best

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the task by identifying reasons for choosing local goods, such as saving time and money, and implicitly views this as a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The reasons provided are underdeveloped, relying heavily on a single personal anecdote about purchasing cooking oil rather than exploring broader economic or social impacts. For instance, the argument that consumers save money because they do not spend on imports is simplistic and unsupported by broader context. Furthermore, the position is somewhat confused in the opening sentence where the student restates part of the prompt as a personal opinion rather than taking a clear stance. These limitations align the response with a Band 5 descriptor, where the task is addressed only partially and ideas are limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text suffers from a major structural flaw: it is written as a single, continuous block of text without any paragraph breaks. While there is a basic chronological sequence linking the general reasons to a personal example, the lack of paragraphing severely hinders logical organisation and progression. Cohesive devices are minimal and repetitive, relying mostly on basic additive links like 'and' or run-on phrasing ('then one of my friend tell me...'). Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use referring back to local producers and goods interchangeably. Because information and ideas are not arranged into coherent paragraphs, and overall progression is absent, the response falls into the Band 4 category for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily restricted. The student frequently reuses simple words such as 'goods', 'local', 'producer', 'time', and 'money' throughout the text. There are numerous word choice and spelling errors, such as 'thair' instead of 'their', 'good' instead of 'goods', 'by' instead of 'buy', 'instant' instead of 'instead', 'warried' instead of 'worried', 'mumber' instead of 'number', and 'everthings' instead of 'everything'. While these errors do not completely block communication, they are noticeable and demonstrate a limited, minimally adequate range of vocabulary, which is characteristic of Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response consists almost entirely of a long, run-on sentence structure linked by commas and coordinating conjunctions, lacking proper punctuation and capitalisation. There is a complete absence of complex grammatical structures used accurately. Frequent grammatical errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('customer want', 'producer make profit'), tense inconsistencies ('Once i need', 'my old customer want'), and missing auxiliary verbs. For example, the sentence 'he ready my order and delivery it to me' contains multiple tense and form errors. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited range of structures, fitting the Band 4 descriptor.
