Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowdays consumers are heavily relying on domestic products rather than buying imported ones. I believe this belief setting such a positive trend in our country because it is supporting local vendors and creating employment opportunities for the youth.
There can be several reasons to choose local products over international ones. Main factor is cost effective. Product manufactured in our home country has less governent tax, transportation cost, and no custom duty which reduce the total cost of product which is lower than the product which was bought on international market. For example, The price of Tesla company cars are very high than the Toyota company cars because we import this cars from USA and we build totota is our company. Secondly, better after sales service, as a company is well established in home country to serve customers if there is any issue arise in timely manner.
Due to the high demands of home country products, Domestic companies are expanding their buisness operations which is devloping necessity of workers and labours. The more people are getting employment the high standard of living of our country going. So, eventually our economy is boosting. In addition to that, as majority of products are getting build in home country, government does not need to import those things, as a result there is no import duty need to be paid to other country and those money can be used in better infrastructure and public devlopment of our nation.
In conclusion, As we see locally manufactured products has many benefits like affordable price, employment creation, high standard of living and nation devlopment there is no doubt to say that this is positive trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing the reasons for choosing local products and evaluating whether this trend is positive or negative. The writer presents a clear position from the outset, stating that it is a positive trend because it supports local vendors and creates employment. Main reasons such as cost-effectiveness (reduced taxes and transportation costs) and better after-sales service are introduced. The ideas are generally relevant and extended, though the supporting examples, such as the comparison between Tesla and Toyota, are slightly confused in their phrasing and explanation. Overall, the task is adequately addressed, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors where all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, even if some points could be more fully developed or clarified.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs focusing on reasons and effects, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Secondly', 'In addition to that', and 'In conclusion' are used to signpost the progression of ideas, although some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, but referencing and logical flow within sentences occasionally falter, such as in the second body paragraph. This places the response comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor, where information and ideas are coherently arranged overall, but cohesion can occasionally be faulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'cost-effective', 'after-sales service', 'business operations', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('Nowdays', 'goverent', 'totota', 'buisness', 'devloping', 'devlopment') and awkward word choices or collocations ('this belief setting such a positive trend', 'the high standard of living of our country going'). While these lexical inaccuracies and spelling mistakes occur frequently, they do not severely impede communication because the writer's core message remains understandable. This performance corresponds closely to Band 5, where vocabulary is minimally adequate with noticeable errors that require some effort from the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are frequent errors in article usage, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'Product manufactured... has less governent tax' (plural/singular mismatch), 'we build totota is our company', and 'there is no import duty need to be paid'. Punctuation and capitalization errors are also present. These frequent structural and mechanical errors can cause some difficulty for the reader, though meaning is usually recoverable. This reflects the characteristics of Band 5, where limited structures and frequent errors persist.
