Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is no doubt that consumers consume goods according to their taste and preference.Few individuals prefered to consume or like to purchase goods from their own local shops. There are plethora of reasons of this statement aling with a positive trend which I represent in the following paragraphs.
First and the foremost is better quality, majority of people like to purchase things from their own local place because they know more about their local shops like what kind of products they sale or what quality means they are more familiar with their products as well as brands. Additionally, imported good are not fresh they conume good in a freezer for a long time which is not healthy. If people consume these freezer products like fruits or vegetables than it shows adverse effect on their health. For instance- in Canada 90% people buy freezer products that's why they face more health issues.
I personally believe that it is a positive trend. Firstly, people do not face any health issues who eat or consume fresh products like from their own local shops. Local shops easily do bargaining with people or provide more discount on things which is beneficial not only for community but also benefit for local shops because they will be on good stage in the market. Imported goods have more tax and more expensive so people do not preferred to buy imported goods especially low income people because they don't have enough money.
In conclusion, there are many reasons people like purchasing things from their own
market rather than imported goods like better quality products, all goods fresh and many more.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for buying locally and presenting a clear position that it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies on unsupported generalizations, such as the claim that 90% of people in Canada buy frozen products and face health issues. While the main parts of the task are covered, the arguments lack depth and robust supporting examples. This places the response comfortably at Band 6, as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though some are under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression of ideas from reasons to personal opinion. Paragraphing is attempted, though the introductory and concluding paragraphs are brief and basic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and the foremost', 'Additionally', and 'Firstly', but referencing is occasionally unclear and some transitions feel mechanical. For instance, the transition into the discussion about bargaining and taxes in the third paragraph is abrupt. Overall, the structure meets the requirements for a Band 6, featuring logical progression despite some faulty cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their main ideas. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'plethora', 'familiar', and 'adverse effect', but these are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'prefered', 'aling', 'sale' instead of 'sell', and 'conume'. Phrasing like 'good stage in the market' and 'do bargaining' also demonstrates unnatural collocation. These errors do not seriously impede communication, fitting the Band 5 to 6 profile, but the frequency of lexical errors keeps it at a solid Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('If people consume these... than it shows adverse effect'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('imported good are', 'majority of people like'), preposition usage, and punctuation (missing commas and run-on sentences like 'Local shops easily do bargaining with people or provide more discount on things which is beneficial...'). While these errors do not completely obscure meaning, they cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and demonstrate limited control over complex structures, reflecting a Band 5 performance.
