Student answer (Band 6.5)
Continuous supply of goods is required for the flow of money in the market. Therefore a few customers are inclining to purchase commodities that are made locally, in comparison to the goods which are bought in a country from abroad countries. There are various reasons behind this trend and in my opinion it is indeed a positive trend.
Commencing with the reasons behind this approach, the first and foremost is, availability of goods. To exemplify, the goods which are made locally are available in the market more readily as compared to the ones which are imported because if any conflict arise between the countries in trade it hampers the supply of products. Along with it, most of the people prefer to buy products that are affordable to them and the internationally made items are usually costly due to additional taxes posed by the government of both nations.
Moving further, purchasing goods from local market offers various advantages. Firstly , it leads to the development of new business ventures which further helps in development of industries in an area. As a result, the employment opportunities will increase and helps in earning bread and butter for the families living there. Secondly, sale and purchase of locally made goods generate revenue which enhances economic growth of the country and made that nation independent and strong.
In the nutshell, products manufactured within the country helps in strengthening finances of the people as well as make a country self sufficient in fulfilling demands of the public.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: it identifies the reasons why consumers choose local goods, such as reliable availability and affordability, and clearly states a position that this is a positive trend. Ideas are generally relevant and supported with explanations, such as economic growth and employment opportunities. However, some arguments lack full extension and suffer from minor generalisations. For example, the claim that international items are costly due to additional taxes is mentioned without further depth. Nevertheless, all parts of the task are covered with a clear overall position maintained throughout. This performance aligns well with the requirements for Band 6.5, leaning towards Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, reasons, advantages, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to structure the response, such as 'Commencing with the reasons', 'To exemplify', and 'Moving further'. However, some referencing and cohesive links are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'In the nutshell' instead of 'In a nutshell'. Additionally, the transitional phrase 'Along with it' is somewhat informal for an IELTS essay. Overall, the arrangement is coherent and easy to follow, satisfying the criteria for Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'ventures', 'independent and strong', and 'self sufficient'. There are several word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'from abroad countries' instead of 'from foreign countries', 'taxes posed' instead of 'taxes imposed', and 'earning bread and butter for the families' which is somewhat idiomatic and informal. Spelling is generally accurate, but minor lexical errors occasionally surface. Communication is never impeded, placing the lexical performance solidly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures through relative clauses and conditional-like phrasing. There are several noticeable grammatical errors, such as 'if any conflict arise' (subject-verb agreement error: 'arises'), 'helps in earning' lacking a clear subject, and 'made that nation independent' (tense consistency error: should be 'makes'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, though there is a spacing error before the comma in 'Firstly , it leads'. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the frequency of grammatical slips prevents a higher score, making Band 6.0 an accurate reflection of this criteria.
