Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, increasing number of customers prefer more to buy locally produced goods instead of buying imported goods. In my opinion, it is largely positive development because its supports to local businesses and reduce environmental impact of transportation.
One major reason people choose to buy local products to make increase in local communities economy. Another reason is that local products may be perceived as fresher and more trustworthy, particularly when it comes to food. For instance, people who buy local products such as , dairy items, vegetables and meat they aware about the products where it comes from and they often buy get the product quickly than buy from outer sources.
This is mainly positive trend because people make contribution to increase of their own community's economy. First, purchasing local goods can contribute to economic development by helping small businesses remain profitable and competitive This trend create more employment opportunities for local area residents. Another reason is that its more convenient for people to save their time and lower fuel which is also helpful to reduce environmental impact of transportation. For example, consider to buy vegetables from nearby farms rather than another country may require less transportation.
In conclusion, consumers buying products locally want to help their local communities and often value their freshness and traceability of the goods. Although, imported goods sometimes provide variety and multiple buying options with a cheaper rate, I consider that the growing preference of local goods largely positive trend because its create more employment opportunities and lesser the transportation related emission.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, examining both the reasons for buying local goods and evaluating whether this trend is positive or negative. The student clearly states a position in the introduction, declaring it a 'largely positive development' due to supporting local businesses and reducing the environmental impact of transportation. Reasons are provided in the body paragraphs, noting economic growth, community development, and product freshness. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive, as the economic benefits and environmental points are reiterated across paragraphs without being significantly extended into deeper discussion. Nevertheless, all prompt requirements are met satisfactorily, corresponding to a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, reasons, evaluation, and conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases and connective logic are occasionally awkward, such as starting paragraphs with repetitive phrasing like 'Another reason is that...'. Referencing and linking are sometimes clumsy, seen in sentences like '...people who buy local products such as , dairy items, vegetables and meat they aware about the products...', which creates grammatical clutter and interrupts the logical flow. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion lacks flexibility and precision, placing the response firmly at a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'locally produced goods', 'imported goods', 'traceability', and 'employment opportunities'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices throughout the text, such as 'its supports to local businesses' instead of 'it supports', 'lesser the transportation related emission' instead of 'reduces emissions', and 'with a cheaper rate' instead of 'at a cheaper rate'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a limited control over less common lexical items, keeping the vocabulary score at a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambitious structures like 'Although, imported goods sometimes provide variety... I consider that the growing preference...'. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors that recur throughout the text. Examples include missing articles ('increasing number of customers' instead of 'an increasing number'), incorrect verb forms ('its supports to local businesses'), redundant pronouns ('meat they aware about'), and punctuation issues such as unnecessary commas ('such as , dairy items'). While communication remains understandable, the density of grammatical errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band, making Band 5.0 the most accurate description.
