Student answer (Band 4.5)

Nowadays, some consumer are prefer to buying goods that are the produced in the local areas, rather than imported goods.I agree with this statement for several reason. In the present, everything very high level prices increased but some people can not afford this prices rather than they prefer local areas.

To begin with it, many people choosing the local goods because they are not afford very expencive goods and they want reasonable price goods.Nowadays, many people perfer imported and branded goods because they are lifestyle is very different and live in the urben areas and belong to wealthy familys. They want imported and brands goods while poor familes prefer local markets and find in the batter quilaty and reasonable price goods. In the future this trend will developing on high level, However the trend is very bad impact on society while this trend suit for rich individulas rather than poor individulas.

On the other hand, 6 years ago very kind or things availabel in the local areas while nowadays imported and branded goods available in the bigest mall and famous markets. Some people want wear a clothes and shoes and other kind of things imported because they perfer imported goods. However every human wants wear importede goods inadition change our lifestyl but they can not affordabel very expencive goods.

In conclosin, I believe that consumer choosing the buying goods imported and brands but it is trend develpe to very hihg levels because rich people can afford this price while poor people can not afford it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for buying local goods such as affordability and discussing whether this is a positive or negative trend. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat confused. The writer attempts to explain the economic factors behind consumer choices, mentioning that 'everything very high level prices increased,' but the arguments lack clarity and analytical depth. Furthermore, the position is not always clearly maintained, as the writing oscillates between discussing financial constraints and general consumer desires for imported items. The discussion of whether the trend is positive or negative touches on social impacts, noting that it 'is very bad impact on society' while suiting rich individuals, but this requires much clearer elaboration. Overall, the task is addressed, but the ideas remain under-developed and disjointed, aligning with Band 5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the overall progression of ideas is hindered by frequent structural and logical leaps. While transitional phrases like 'To begin with it,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclosin' are attempted, they are often misused or mechanically applied. For example, 'On the other hand' introduces a historical comparison about what was available six years ago rather than a contrasting argument. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is frequently faulty due to unclear referencing and abrupt shifts in topic between sentences. The relationship between sentences is often obscured by grammatical errors, making it difficult for the reader to follow a clear logical thread throughout the piece, placing it firmly at Band 4.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms like 'goods,' 'things,' 'prices,' and 'people.' There are frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'consumer are prefer to buying,' 'batter quilaty,' and 'importede goods.' The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, including 'imported,' 'reasonable price,' and 'lifestyl,' but these are marred by persistent spelling and morphological errors. While communication is occasionally achieved, the numerous lexical inaccuracies and limited range mean the vocabulary resource is restricted, reflecting the characteristics of a Band 4.0 performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that contain severe, frequent errors. Nearly every sentence features noticeable grammatical or mechanical faults, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('some consumer are prefer'), tense confusion ('this trend will developing'), and missing auxiliary verbs ('they are not afford'). Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on clauses and missing punctuation marks between independent ideas. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and impede comprehension at times, preventing the response from reaching a higher band level and corresponding to Band 4.0.
