Student answer (Band 6.0)

Most of the customers are more likely to buy the products that are manufactured in their localty rather than the foreign goods. It is happening because they had trust in their neighborhood products. In my opinion, it is positive trend due to the growth in the sale of local market items.

Customers usually believe in the things that are produced near their areas. Because they know if any item is not good or stops working, they can get it replaced. Moroever, they can have warranty and gurrantee for all the things they would buy from shops and know where they can make complaint about the issue found. For example, my father buy a video game for my brother made in local shop. After some time, it starts glitching in the screen. Then my father goes to shop and complaint about that and they replaced it with another set of game.

It is best that due to this, economy of country can grow at effective rate. We know if people will buy things made from local area, it will boost their sale. As the sale grows the profit will definitely rises. When shops will make enough money, they will add up to the country's economy and will boost it up. For instance, recent survey in India shows that after boycotting some products that are imported, India's GDP grows with double rate.

To conlcude, nowadays people are avoiding products that are from other countries and give more prirority to local goods. The reason for this is the lack of trust in other nation's goods. I see it as a positive way because it helps to grow the local shops and its sale.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for buying local goods such as consumer trust and ease of returns, and taking a clear position that this is a positive trend because it boosts the local economy. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the explanation of economic growth relies on general statements like 'profit will definitely rises' rather than deeper economic analysis. Examples are provided, such as the video game anecdote and a broad mention of an Indian survey, but they lack precise detail. This performance aligns best with Band 6, where all parts are addressed, but some ideas remain under-developed or general.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised adequately to separate the introduction, reasons, economic impact, and conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transition markers like 'Moroever' and 'To conlcude' contain spelling errors, and referencing is occasionally clunky, such as 'it starts glitching in the screen' where pronouns lack clear antecedents. Logical progression is present, but the connections between sentences feel a bit disjointed at times. These features correspond directly to the Band 6 descriptors for cohesion and paragraphing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'manufactured', 'boycotting', and 'guarantee'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('localty', 'Moroever', 'gurrantee', 'prirority', 'conlcude') and awkward word choices or collocations, such as 'double rate' instead of 'double the rate' or 'at effective rate'. While these errors do not impede communication, as the reader can easily follow the meaning, they prevent the score from reaching a higher band. The lexical range is minimally sufficient to convey the intended message, fitting the Band 6 criteria.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and causal clauses ('Because they know if any item is not good...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'it is positive trend' (missing article), 'my father buy' (tense agreement), 'profit will definitely rises' (modal verb error), and 'GDP grows with double rate'. Despite these errors, meaning is rarely obscured and communication is maintained. This blend of grammatical structures alongside persistent errors is characteristic of Band 5.0 to 6.0, settling safely at a Band 6.0 due to the successful communication of complex thoughts.
